ARCHITECTURE + SCENOGRAPHY
This exhibition features 7 installations by a wide range of established and emerging architects, such as: Grafton Architects, Siebedo Francis Kere, Kengo Kuma, Pezo von Ellrichshausen, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Alvaro Siza, Li Xiaodong.
“We’ve set them a challenge, to give you a new perspective on architecture. Using structures, textures, scents, lighting and colour they will transform the Main Galleries and ask fundamental questions about the nature of architecture.” curator Kate Goodwin.
Each day, the Royal Academy of Arts attracts approximately 3000 visitors. A neo-classical building in the heart of London, it is independently encouraging the creation of visual arts through exhibitions. As the Telegraph states “Sensing Spaces, the most ambitious architecture exhibition that the Royal Academy has ever staged.”
SHSH was given the commission of exhibition and lighting design for Sensing Spaces. Respecting its original feature of historical architecture, SHSH has designed this light, simple space for visitors to gather and collect information about the exhibition contents. SHSH also produced a lighting effect that presented the movement of natural sunlight on a winters day in London to ultimately enhance the intensity of the light.
